To the attention of Mr. President of the Pan-African Youth Union
Subject : Open Letter of Plea for the Reintegration of Gabon into the African Union
Mister President,
I would like to write to you in my capacity as President of the Junior Entreprise Conseil (JEC), a youth association specializing in the promotion of youth employment and youth diplomacy. The JEC is also an ex officio member of the National Youth Council of Gabon (CNJG).
Indeed, we are seeking the support and intervention of the Pan-African Youth Union to carry out high-level advocacy for the reintegration of Gabon into the African Union.
Youth represents an essential pillar for the sustainable development and prosperity of our nations. In Gabon, young people make up 70% of the population, which makes us a dynamic and essential force. This demographic imposes a collective responsibility to guarantee that Gabonese youth can fully participate in decision-making and development processes. This is in line with United Nations Resolution 2250 on youth, peace and security, as well as other international agreements which confer the crucial role of young people in promoting peace, security and development.
Gabon’s suspension from the African Union has had significant repercussions on our nation, particularly on our youth. We firmly believe that membership in the AU is essential for the socio-economic and political development of our country. Gabon’s reintegration into the AU is not just a matter of formality, but a necessity to allow our youth to fully play their role in building a common prosperous and peaceful future for all of Africa.
As a reminder, the mission of the Pan-African Youth Union is also to promote the active participation of young people in all areas of society, to strengthen their leadership capacity and to foster an environment conducive to their development. By supporting our advocacy, the Pan-African Youth Union would demonstrate its commitment to these objectives and contribute to the realization of a united and united Africa.
Achieving the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which aims to transform Africa into a global power of the future, relies largely on the participation and engagement of African youth. Gabonese youth, through their commitment, creativity and desire to contribute positively to the development of our continent, represents an invaluable resource for the African Union. We are ready to mobilize our resources and actively collaborate with the UPJ to defend this noble cause.
Thanking you Mr. President for your attention and your collaboration.
Yours sincerely.
Emmanuel OMBANA
President of the Junior Enterprise Council (JEC) of Gabon
