Sierra Leone to Face Gabon and Liberia

The Sierra Leone U-17 and U-20 national female teams will face Gabon and Liberia respectively in the preliminary round of the 2016 FIFA U-17 and U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Jordan and Papua New Guinea respectively.

The pairing, which was conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday afternoon, will see Gabon, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, DR Congo, Botswana and Namibia all battling in the U-17 preliminary round.

Whilst in the U-20 category, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, Gabon and Liberia will fight for a place in the next round.

In the U-17 qualifiers, Sierra Leone will travel to Gabon for the first leg on the weekend of November 27, 28 or 29, 2015, before hosting them in Freetown on a fortnight.
The winner between Sierra Leone and Gabon will advance to round one and face Ghana in the weekend of 8, 9 or 10 January 2016 for the first leg, and on the 22, 23 or 24 January for the return leg.

Elsewhere, the winner between Sierra Leone and Liberia will face Nigeria in the first round of the U-20 qualifiers.

Nigeria’s Falconets, who finished as runners-up in the last edition of the World Cup staged in Canada after losing to Germany in the final, will host the first leg between July 10-12, while the second leg will hold between July 24-26.
