The workshop is organized by the Gabonese Digital Economy Ministry and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), brought together the Internet providers, NGOs, civil society, parents, educators and other public figures.

The main objectives of this gathering is to identify the risks and vulnerabilities in which Gabon’s youth is exposed in the cyberspace and sensitize stakeholders to develop instruments and practical tools to significantly reduce the risk for cybercrime.

According to Liliane Massala, General Secretary of the Ministry of the digital economy, "our country must pay close attention to the question of mastering the new technologies and their use in the service of sustainable development objectives.”

Emanuel Kamdem, representative of the International Telecommunication Union said that one child in five succumbs to predators on the internet. Hence, the need, according to him, to truly tackle the fight against cybercrime.
