Student Ange Gael MAKAYA was elected as new chair of Omar Bongo University Student Union following the election held last Friday, June 19th at the University.

Opposing the new elected chair, the candidates for presidency of the OBU Student Union were, Jacques-Chirac MEDZO EBARE, MBA OKEY and OBIANG Olloui.

Ange Gael MAKAYA won with 132/208 voters approximatively 63.76% of voters and the others respectively had 53 voters (25.60%) ; 12 voters (5.8%) and 11 voters (5.31%).

“I am happy for this victory and I hope to be the one student expect while elected me” said the new chairman Ange Gael MAKAYA.

The University had 7 months without its student Union due to violence occurring in last December. This new election should restore peace and especially its mission of representing the Omar Bongo University students in the University’s decision-making, acting as the voice for students in the national higher education policy debate, and providing direct services to the student body.
