At last football stadiums in Gabon will open their gates to fans after nearly a year of closure. The National Football League (Linaf), which organises the domestic league, announced on Sunday that the competition will resume on March 21.

The league was suspended last May after participating clubs pulled out following lack of
subventions from the government. Several mediations had been initiated by Caf and regional bodies but to no avail.

The union of club presidents said the government owes them arrears for the 2013-2014 season and monthly subventions covering between July 2014 and February 2015.
Fifa have warned Gabon could face sanctions if the league does not resume as soon as possible.
