Gabon strengthens links with Turkey

Gabon’s president Ali Bongo Ondimba and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, pledged last Tuesday in Ankara to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Gabon and Turkey, says a statement from the Presidency

Economy and trade cooperation were tackled during the meeting. The two Presidents Ali Bongo Ondimba and Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed the establishment of five weekly flights between Libreville and Istanbul against three flights to date. They also shared their wish to increase the volume of trade between Gabon and the Turkey in nearly three hundred million dollars per year, about 150000 million CFA FRANCS.

At the end of this meeting, the Gabonese president said that exchanges he has had with his Turkish counterpart were "fruitful", characterized by a common commitment to strengthening of ties between their two countries.

On the other hand, president Ali Bongo Ondimba received in audience the Turkish Prime Minister for agency cooperation and coordination, and the Turkish foreign economic relations Council.
