Gabon’ President ensures water conveyance in Akanda

Gabon’s president, Ali Bongo Ondimba visited last Tuesday the construction sites of water conveyance from Ntoum to Angondjé, in the new municipality of Akanda, in northern Libreville, to verify the state of progress of the works which allowed the increasing of 25 % debit, carrying the supply in 210.000 m3 a day, said a source.

The president reaffirmed his "determination" to make every effort so the whole Gabonese populations enjoy domestic comfort. " After five years of efforts, we reach a turning point. All the city of Libreville is supplied from now on ", declared the president, considering that this is an important stage in the well-being of the populations, as well as for the development of the industries.

At the end of his journey, the president verified by himself that the water pours well into Akanda’s households. After 25 years of water shortage, the water has finally springs today, everything at the end of a network of 57 km pipes.

These achievement results from the agreement signed between the Gabonese Government and French giant water company Veolia, in 2006 to better and enhance Gabon’s equipment.
