AGEOS to launch spatial observation

The Chairman for the Committee of management of the Council national climate of Gabon, Etienne Massard, announced last Tuesday in Libreville, Gabon the launch of the activities of the Agency for studies and space observation (AGEOS) for better monitoring of forest cover on may 23rd.

As early as it launches, the public authorities could from now know in real time the level of deforestation in a corner of the territory, for instance.

Those satellites that pass almost every four hours on the Gabonese sky will take images, in centimeters, and data on the activities taking place in the country.

According to Mr. Massard, 23 other African countries within a perimeter of 2,800 km from Gabon will benefit from the services of this agency modeled on the Brazilian style of monitoring and conservation of the forests of endangered.
