Since Last Friday, the Masuku Sciences and Techniques University (USTM) in Franceville is the theater of violence between students and army because of the incarceration of eleven University students accused of serious harassment on one of their mate.

The student demonstration burst after the interaction of 11 student accused of harassing on a student who this time went into police to denounce his assaulters. Their partners who did not appreciate the intervention of police in this case they judge traditional way of their university, decided to manifest to the police station and the prison. They claimed for the release of their mate.

Actually, for many years, this situation exists within universities. New high school graduates, commonly referred to as “rookies” are very often victims of physical and sexual abuse by former students. The worst is the different leaders of the university appears to be partners of those vicious act.

Given the seriousness of the situation, the USTM Rector decided to secure all access leading inside the University. “The USTM Rector let know the academic community that following the student demonstrations last Saturday, November 29th , that all access to the University dormitories is from now on kept by national police until further notice to ensure the safety of wealth and people” stated a notice from the USTM Rector Isaac Mouaragadja.
