The ASSA-AC on the road to compliance

The organic texts of the Agency for the supervision of the aviation security in Central Africa (Assa-AC) are examined since April 27th in Libreville by the Board of Directors of that institution, as a prelude to the meeting of the Committee for the Transport Ministers scheduled next April 30th.

The meetings for the agreement on the organic texts will be conducted by experts is scheduled for this April 30th meeting of experts. Then, submitted to the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of transport of the Economic and Monetary Community of States of Central Africa (CEMAC).

“The meeting of experts will allow the analysis of the organic agency ASSA-AC projects, and its submission to the meeting of Ministers for its operation of the efficiently," explained an advisor to the Minister of transport.

Citing the national agency of civil aviation (Anac) Laurent Abessolo Mve deplored that the world average rate of non-compliance with the standards and practices recommended by the Organization of international civil aviation (ICAO) is 39%, while for African countries members of the Agency for the safety of air navigation in Africa and Madagascar (Asecna), it is 63% and 82% for the countries of the Cemac.

This conclave follows also inclusion in 2008 of several countries including Gabon blacklisted, after an audit of the ICAO, that had found a very strong increase in the rate of non-compliance of the Gabonese civil aviation in 2007.
