Police releases Annie Lea Meye and Georges Toussaint

Police released last Monday the two opposition activists arrested last April 18th in Libreville as part of the investigation over the burning out of the Beninese Embassy to Gabon, Annie Lea Meye and Georges Toussaint.

"They have released me on Monday around 6 p.m. It is a temporary release, investigation goes on", said Annie Lea Meye, adding that Georges Toussaint was also released.

"They questioned me about the burning out of the Embassy of Benin but then they accused me for providing young people with money and drugs to demonstrate for the Union."Yes, I am responsible for the mobilization for the demonstrations but is it a crime ? I have never given money or drugs to anyone", she said.

During their inquiries, a hundred people including several opposition leaders, including the former President of the Commission of the African Union Jean Ping and former Prime Minister Jean Eyeghé Ndong, were grouped together outside Police headquarters to show support to the arrested members of the Union.
