Gabon’s WB representation to issue first edition of "Cahier Econimique du Gabon"

The Gabonese representation World Bank launches this Wednesday, October 28th, in Libreville, the first issue of "Cahier Econimique du Gabon". This first issue theme will be: "Protecting the poor despite the growth slowdown."

The "Cahier Econimique du Gabon" are a periodic report that analyzes the evolution and the economic constraints of the country. Published once or twice a year, it takes stock of the economic situation and deals with a particular topic.

Recent economic trends and macroeconomic outlook and the reduction of poverty will be high. The strategic recommendations for the establishment of an effective social protection system will be the subject of a special chapter, which will also be discussed the challenges facing the Gabonese social protection system. Economic Papers are designed to share the achievements and create a dialogue between those seeking to improve economic management and to release the enormous potential of the country.

Gabon is classified as a middle-income country in the top bracket. Fifth African oil producer, it recorded, during the past decade, strong economic growth driven primarily by the oil and manganese. During the last five years, the oil sector has averaged 80% of exports, 45% of GDP and 60% of budgetary revenues.
