Gabon decides to promulgate the mining sector law

On May 29th, the promulgation of the mining sector law was published in the official newspaper, L’Union. This law in Gabonese republic is a new orientation of the exploitation management of non-renewable natural resources policy.

This new law substitutes the law n°5/2000 of October 12th 2000 determining the juridical, institutional, technical, economic, customs and taxation regime of activities or operations in the mining sector in Gabon.

The new mining law helps the government by providing new taxation advantages to various operators. Thanks to it, Gabon will automatically participate to capital’s holders of the exploitation license by stressing on the promotion of local SMEs through the respect “the rule of national preference” such as the employment of citizens, the respect of hygiene, health, and the protection of environment in which all operators should be respected.
